George Davison (bishop)

George Davison (1872 – 1953) was an Anglican bishop in the first half of the 20th century. He served as the Bishop of Algoma in the Anglican Church of Canada.

Davison was educated at Trinity College, Toronto and ordained in 1896. He served his curacy at St. Anne's, Toronto, after which he held incumbencies in Port Arthur, Ontario and North Bay, Ontario.

Elected Bishop of Algoma in 1926, he was consecrated on January 25, 1926, and served in that role until his retirement in 1949. During his episcopate, he focused on the pastoral needs of the widely dispersed communities within the vast Diocese of Algoma, including supporting the work of missions and theological education. He also advocated for the social justice concerns of the working class in the mining and lumber industries prevalent in the region. Davison died in 1953.
