Gérard Holtz

Gérard Holtz (born December 8, 1946, in Paris) is a French journalist, known primarily for his sports reporting. He is particularly associated with coverage of cycling, especially the Tour de France, and rally racing, particularly the Dakar Rally.

Holtz began his career in radio before transitioning to television. He worked for various French television channels, including Antenne 2 (later France 2) and France 3. He is known for his enthusiastic and sometimes flamboyant style of reporting, often conducting interviews directly from the field and providing energetic commentary.

Over the course of his career, Holtz has covered numerous Olympic Games, FIFA World Cups, and other major international sporting events. He is also a writer and actor, having authored books on sports and appearing in films and theatrical productions. He retired from France Télévisions in 2016. He remains a recognizable figure in French sports journalism and broadcasting history.
