Freshtel

Freshtel was an Australian telecommunications company that operated from 2005 until 2011. It offered wireless broadband services using WiMAX technology, primarily targeting areas underserved by traditional ADSL or cable broadband.

Freshtel's business model centered on providing high-speed internet access without the need for fixed-line infrastructure. They aimed to compete with established telecommunication providers by offering an alternative broadband solution. Their service footprint was focused on metropolitan and regional areas of Australia.

The company faced financial difficulties and ultimately went into administration in 2010, ceasing operations completely in 2011. Its assets were subsequently sold off. The failure of Freshtel has been attributed to a combination of factors including competition from other wireless broadband providers, technological challenges associated with WiMAX adoption, and regulatory hurdles.

Despite its short lifespan, Freshtel represented an early attempt to bring widespread wireless broadband access to Australian consumers.
