Frank Springer

Frank Springer (1929 – 2009) was an American comic book artist and writer. He is best known for his work at Marvel Comics, particularly on titles such as "Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D.," "Daredevil," and "The Transformers."

Springer began his comics career in the 1950s, working primarily as an inker for various publishers, including DC Comics and Timely Comics (later Marvel). He developed a reputation for his clean, crisp line work.

In the 1960s, he began to take on more prominent roles, contributing pencils and layouts to several key Marvel titles. His work on "Nick Fury, Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D." helped to visually define the spy-fi aesthetic of the series. He often collaborated with writers such as Jim Steranko.

Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Springer continued to work on a variety of Marvel titles, often handling art chores on popular characters. He contributed to "Daredevil" during a period when the character was being redefined by writers and artists like Frank Miller. He also worked on licensed properties such as "The Transformers," contributing to the visual style of the comic book adaptation of the popular toy line.

Beyond his work at Marvel, Springer also contributed to other comic book publishers and worked in commercial art. He was known for his versatility and his ability to adapt his style to different genres and characters.
