Francazal
Francazal refers to a former military airfield located southwest of Toulouse, France. Originally established before World War I, it primarily served as an air base for the French Air Force (Armée de l'Air). Over the decades, it hosted various aircraft squadrons and played a role in both military operations and training.
In addition to its military function, Francazal also facilitated civilian aviation activities, particularly general aviation and business aviation. The airfield provided facilities for private aircraft, flight schools, and maintenance services.
In recent years, the military presence at Francazal has significantly diminished. While some military activity may still occur, the site is now largely focused on civilian aviation and industrial activities. Redevelopment projects have aimed to transform the former air base into a mixed-use zone encompassing aerospace businesses, research facilities, and potentially residential areas. The goal is to leverage the site's existing infrastructure and proximity to Toulouse's aerospace industry to foster economic growth and innovation. Francazal remains an important location in the Toulousian area, undergoing a transition from primarily military use to a more diversified economic and social function.
