F (New York City Subway service)

The F is a rapid transit service in the B Division of the New York City Subway. Its route bullet is colored orange. Operating 24 hours a day, except for late nights in Queens, the F service provides a vital connection between several boroughs.

The F operates from 179th Street in Jamaica, Queens, to Coney Island–Stillwell Avenue in Coney Island, Brooklyn. During its typical weekday operation, the F serves as a local train in Queens and Brooklyn, making frequent stops to serve local communities. In Manhattan, it operates as an express service, bypassing many local stations to provide a faster connection to destinations further down the line.

During late nights in Queens, the F terminates at Parsons Boulevard, and passengers must transfer to shuttle buses to reach the 179th Street terminal.

The F train runs on the IND Queens Boulevard Line in Queens, the IND Sixth Avenue Line in Manhattan, and the IND Culver Line in Brooklyn. Significant stations served by the F include Jamaica–179th Street, Jackson Heights–Roosevelt Avenue (providing connections to multiple subway lines), 34th Street–Herald Square, West 4th Street–Washington Square, and Coney Island–Stillwell Avenue.
