Eye of the Cat (1975 film)
Eye of the Cat is a 1975 American horror-thriller film directed by Curtis Harrington and starring Michael Sarrazin, Gayle Hunnicutt, and Eleanor Parker.
The film centers on a young man, Wylie (Sarrazin), who is coerced by his aunt, Mrs. Benedikt (Parker), and her maid, Greta (Kirsten Knudson), to steal her sister's fortune, which is to be left to her numerous feline companions. Wylie is allergic to cats, but his avarice and a need for money for his girlfriend, Kassia (Hunnicutt), compel him to participate in the scheme.
The cats, particularly a black one, are presented as intelligent and malevolent, and they protect their owner's wealth with surprising ferocity. The plot unfolds as Wylie, Kassia, and Mrs. Benedikt attempt to carry out their plan, encountering increasingly perilous and deadly obstacles orchestrated by the feline guardians. The film explores themes of greed, animal intelligence, and the dark side of human nature. It is notable for its suspenseful atmosphere and the use of cats as agents of horror.
