Eredivisie (men's handball)
The Eredivisie is the highest level of men's handball in the Netherlands. It is organized by the NHV (Nederlands Handbal Verbond, the Dutch Handball Association). The competition typically consists of a regular season followed by playoffs to determine the national champion. Participating teams are professional or semi-professional clubs from across the country. The winner of the Eredivisie typically qualifies for European handball competitions such as the EHF European Cup. The league plays a significant role in the development of handball talent in the Netherlands and contributes to the national team's player pool. The number of teams participating in the Eredivisie can vary slightly from year to year, but it typically includes around ten to twelve clubs. Promotion and relegation between the Eredivisie and lower divisions are also a part of the competition structure.
