Elixir, also known as Joshua Foley, is a fictional character appearing in comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is primarily associated with the X-Men franchise.

Publication History

Elixir first appeared in New Mutants (vol. 2) #5 (November 2003) and was created by Nunzio DeFilippis and Christina Weir.

Fictional Character Biography

Joshua "Josh" Foley is a mutant with the ability to manipulate his own biological structure and the biological structure of others. This allows him to heal injuries, cure diseases, and even resurrect the recently deceased. Conversely, he can also inflict pain, disease, and death.

Initially, Josh's powers manifested as the ability to restore mutants to their human forms, earning him the codename Elixir. His powers developed further, revealing the full extent of his bio-manipulation capabilities.

Josh struggled with the ethical implications of his powers, particularly the ability to kill. His internal conflicts and moral dilemmas are recurring themes in his storylines. He has been associated with various X-Men teams and has attended the Xavier Institute. His relationships with other students, particularly with Wolfsbane and later with X-23, have been significant parts of his character arc.
