Egyptian Hip Hop (band)

Egyptian Hip Hop were a British indie pop band from Manchester, England, formed in 2008. The band was known for their eclectic sound, drawing influences from genres such as afrobeat, funk, and psychedelia, often combined with pop sensibilities.

The original lineup consisted of Alastair Rigg, Aldous Craig, Samuel Sterling, and Louis Stevenson. They gained initial recognition through their early singles and EPs, showcasing a distinctive, layered sound characterized by intricate rhythms and melodic interplay.

Egyptian Hip Hop released their debut album, Good Don't Sleep, in 2012. The album further explored their diverse musical palette, receiving generally positive reviews for its originality and ambition.

Following the release of Good Don't Sleep, the band toured extensively and continued to write and record. However, they eventually disbanded, with members pursuing individual musical projects. While relatively short-lived, Egyptian Hip Hop are remembered for their unique sonic blend and contribution to the British indie music scene of the early 2010s.
