Edson (provincial electoral district)

Edson was a provincial electoral district in Alberta, Canada, mandated to return a single member to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta using the first-past-the-post voting system. It existed during various periods of Alberta's history.

The riding was first created in 1930, carved out of the electoral districts of Pembina and Peace River. It was abolished in 1971, with its territory being redistributed into Whitecourt, Grande Cache, and Spirit River-Fairview.

Edson was recreated in 1993 from segments of the Yellowhead and Pembina ridings. It was abolished again in 2004, with its territory being primarily redistributed into the newly created constituency of West Yellowhead, with small portions going to Drayton Valley-Calmar.

The district's boundaries generally encompassed the town of Edson and surrounding rural areas in west-central Alberta. The economy of the region was typically resource-based, reliant on forestry, oil and gas, and agriculture.
