Eckert (crater)
Eckert is a lunar impact crater that lies on the far side of the Moon. It is located to the west of the Mare Marginis, and is attached to the northeast rim of the larger crater Hubble. To the west of Eckert lies the crater Papaleksi.
The rim of Eckert is somewhat eroded, with small craters lying along the northern and southern edges. The interior floor is relatively level, with a few small craterlets marking the surface. A notable feature is a dark patch of lower albedo material in the western part of the interior floor, likely a deposit of volcanic material.
Eckert is named after American astronomer Wallace John Eckert. The crater was officially named by the International Astronomical Union (IAU).
