Ken Davies (artist)

Ken Davies (born 1926, New London, Connecticut; died 2021, Madison, Connecticut) was an American trompe-l'oeil painter known for his meticulous realism and often whimsical subject matter. He studied at the Yale School of Fine Arts, graduating in 1950. Davies' work frequently depicted commonplace objects, often rendered on a larger-than-life scale, with exacting detail and heightened clarity. His trompe-l'oeil effects aimed to deceive the viewer into believing the painted objects were real and three-dimensional. He was influenced by the Old Masters and his work has been exhibited extensively in museums and galleries throughout the United States. His paintings are held in numerous public and private collections. He taught art at Paier College of Art in Hamden, Connecticut for many years.
