Downtown Triangle (Jerusalem)
The Downtown Triangle (Hebrew: המשולש, HaMeshulash) refers to a central commercial and business district in Jerusalem, Israel. It is roughly defined by the area bounded by Jaffa Road, King George Street, and Ben Yehuda Street. This area became the modern city center outside the walls of the Old City beginning in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
Historically, the Triangle was a major hub for commerce, entertainment, and civic activity in Jerusalem. It housed a variety of shops, restaurants, cinemas, and government offices. Over time, with the development of other areas in Jerusalem, the Triangle experienced a period of decline.
In recent years, efforts have been made to revitalize the Downtown Triangle, including pedestrianization projects, infrastructure improvements, and the encouragement of new businesses and residential development. The Jerusalem Light Rail runs along Jaffa Road, providing enhanced accessibility to the area.
The Triangle remains an important part of Jerusalem’s urban landscape, blending historical character with modern amenities.
