Dopey (Land of the Lost)

Dopey was the nickname given to a Tyrannosaurus rex character in the original 1974-1976 television series Land of the Lost. Dopey was a relatively young dinosaur, often depicted as being clumsy and somewhat dim-witted, hence the nickname. He was generally portrayed as non-aggressive towards the Marshall family (Rick, Will, and Holly) and became an unlikely ally to them on occasion. The Marshalls often aided Dopey, and vice-versa, despite the dangers posed by dinosaurs in general. His large size and lack of intellectual prowess provided a comedic foil to the more serious threats present in the prehistoric world. Dopey's presence was a recurring element of the show and a memorable character for many viewers.
