Doomguy

Doomguy, also sometimes referred to as the Marine, Doom Marine, or the Doom Slayer, is the player-controlled protagonist in the Doom franchise of video games created by id Software. He is a space marine who is typically depicted as a silent, muscular figure clad in green armor. The Doomguy's primary motivation throughout the series is survival and the relentless extermination of demonic forces invading Earth and other locations.

The character lacks a defined backstory or personality in the original Doom games, allowing players to project themselves onto him. Later entries, particularly Doom (2016) and Doom Eternal (2020), began to flesh out his lore, portraying him as an ancient warrior with a burning hatred for demons and possessing superhuman strength and resilience. These later interpretations established a more concrete narrative reason for his relentless aggression.

Doomguy is known for his arsenal of powerful weapons, including the Super Shotgun, BFG 9000, and Chainsaw, which he uses to dispatch hordes of demons in a visceral and over-the-top manner. He has become an iconic figure in video game history, synonymous with the first-person shooter genre and its emphasis on fast-paced action and graphic violence. His stoic demeanor and unwavering dedication to slaying demons have cemented his place as a legendary character in gaming culture. He is often seen as a symbol of resilience and defiance against overwhelming odds.
