Diabolo

A diabolo is an object consisting of two cups or cones, typically made of plastic, rubber, wood or metal, joined at their apexes by an axle. This axle can be a fixed length or allow for adjustment. The diabolo is spun using a string tied to two handsticks, held one in each hand. The user manipulates the sticks to keep the diabolo spinning and perform various tricks.

The diabolo is a juggling or skill toy, and its use is often considered a form of juggling. It has a long history, originating in China, where it's known as the Chinese yo-yo. The modern diabolo as known in the West became popular in the 20th century, with significant improvements in design and materials over time.

Different types of diabolos are available, varying in size, weight, material, and bearing type. Fixed axle diabolos are simpler and often used by beginners, while bearing diabolos allow for longer spin times and are favored by more experienced players for performing complex tricks. Common tricks involve throwing, catching, and manipulating the diabolo on the string, as well as incorporating body throws, wraps, and grinds. The diabolo is a popular activity both as a recreational pastime and as a performance art, often featured in circus acts and street performances.
