Denny Field (Alabama)

Denny Field was the former football stadium for the University of Alabama Crimson Tide, located in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. It served as the primary home field for the Crimson Tide from 1929 until the opening of Bryant-Denny Stadium in 1929.

Denny Field was named in honor of George H. Denny, who served as the President of the University of Alabama from 1912 to 1936. During his tenure, Denny was instrumental in the growth and development of the university's athletic programs.

Prior to the construction of Denny Field, Alabama played its home games at a variety of locations, including the Quad on campus. The construction of Denny Field marked a significant step forward for the football program, providing a dedicated stadium for games.

Denny Field had a seating capacity that grew over time, eventually accommodating over 12,000 fans. It was known for its relatively intimate atmosphere compared to larger stadiums.

Following the opening of Bryant-Denny Stadium, Denny Field was demolished. The site is now occupied by other university facilities. While the stadium is no longer standing, the name Denny lives on in the much larger Bryant-Denny Stadium, a testament to George H. Denny's lasting impact on the University of Alabama.
