David Davies (archdeacon of Llandaff)

David Davies (died 1794) was a Welsh clergyman who served as Archdeacon of Llandaff from 1775 until his death. Little is publicly known about his early life and career prior to his appointment to the archdeaconry. As Archdeacon, he was responsible for the administration of the archdeaconry, a significant ecclesiastical division within the Diocese of Llandaff. The Diocese of Llandaff, encompassing parts of Glamorgan and Monmouthshire, was itself a historically important region within the Church in Wales (then part of the Church of England). His duties would have included overseeing the clergy within his jurisdiction, inspecting church properties, and representing the interests of the diocese. The details of his specific actions and contributions during his tenure are sparse in available historical records. He died in 1794, leaving the office vacant for his successor.
