David Briggs (English musician)
David Briggs (born c. 1944) is an English keyboardist, arranger, composer and record producer, best known for his long association with the band Little River Band (LRB).
Briggs' career began in the early 1960s in Australia, where he emigrated with his family. He initially played with various bands before becoming a session musician and arranger in Melbourne. He gained prominence through his studio work, including contributions to several successful Australian recordings.
In 1975, Briggs joined Little River Band, initially as a touring member. He soon became a full-time member, contributing significantly to their songwriting, arrangements, and keyboard playing. He remained a key member of LRB throughout their period of peak popularity in the late 1970s and early 1980s, co-writing or contributing to hits such as "Lonesome Loser", "Cool Change", and "Take It Easy On Me". His distinctive keyboard style and arrangements were integral to the band's signature sound.
After leaving Little River Band in the early 1980s, Briggs continued his career as a session musician, composer, and producer, working with a variety of artists. He has also been involved in composing music for film and television.
Briggs' contribution to Australian and international music has been significant, particularly his work with Little River Band, which earned him widespread recognition and cemented his place as a respected musician in the rock and pop music landscape.
