Danny Jones (rugby league)

Danny Jones (1986 – 2015) was a Welsh professional rugby league footballer who played as a hooker.

Jones began his professional career with Halifax in 2003, progressing through their academy system. He also played for Widnes Vikings before rejoining Halifax. He later signed for Keighley Cougars, where he spent the remainder of his career.

Internationally, Jones represented Wales, making a significant contribution to the national team.

He tragically died on 3 May 2015 after suffering a cardiac arrest during a League 1 match between Keighley Cougars and London Skolars. His death led to increased awareness and preventative measures regarding heart conditions in rugby league players. A fund was established in his name to support his young family. He is remembered as a popular and respected figure within the rugby league community.
