Coriant

Coriant was a telecommunications equipment vendor. The company provided optical networking and software-defined networking (SDN) solutions for network operators. Its products included transport systems, packet optical networking platforms, and management software.

Coriant was formed in 2013 from the optical networking business of Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN). It aimed to provide solutions for growing bandwidth demands driven by cloud computing, video streaming, and mobile broadband.

Over its history, Coriant acquired several other companies to expand its technology portfolio and market reach. These acquisitions included Tellabs Optical Systems in 2013 and Sycamore Networks’ metro optical networking assets in 2013.

In 2018, Coriant was acquired by Infinera Corporation. Following the acquisition, Coriant's products and technologies were integrated into Infinera's portfolio. The Coriant brand name was retired as part of this integration. The acquisition strengthened Infinera's position in the optical networking market, particularly in the metro and long-haul segments. The combined company offers a broader range of solutions to its customers.
