Condor (APC)

The Condor is a 4x4 wheeled armored personnel carrier (APC) designed by Thyssen-Henschel (now Rheinmetall Landsysteme) of Germany. It was developed primarily for the export market and is used by a number of countries worldwide.

The Condor is characterized by its robust construction, high mobility, and versatility. It can be configured for a variety of roles, including troop transport, reconnaissance, command and control, and ambulance duties. The vehicle typically carries a crew of two (driver and commander) and can transport up to ten infantry soldiers.

Protection features include all-welded steel armor providing protection against small arms fire and shell splinters. Additional armor can be added for increased protection against heavier threats. The vehicle is often equipped with firing ports allowing troops to engage targets from inside the vehicle.

The Condor is powered by a diesel engine, giving it a good power-to-weight ratio and allowing for excellent cross-country performance. It is typically equipped with a central tire inflation system (CTIS), which allows the driver to adjust tire pressure from inside the vehicle to optimize performance on different terrain.

While production of the original Condor design ceased some time ago, many remain in service. The vehicle represents a significant element in the armored vehicle inventories of several nations, providing a versatile and reliable platform for a range of military and security operations.
