Communist Labour Party (Colombia)

The Communist Labour Party (Colombia) (Spanish: Partido Comunista del Trabajo de Colombia, PCTC) is a communist party in Colombia. It emerged from a split within the Independent Revolutionary Workers' Movement (MOIR) in the late 1970s, formalizing as a separate party in 1985. The PCTC adheres to a Hoxhaist ideological line, based on the political theories of Enver Hoxha, the former leader of Albania, and upholding an anti-revisionist stance against what it perceives as deviations from Marxist-Leninist principles.

The party's focus is on organizing the working class and peasantry to fight for socialist revolution in Colombia. The PCTC actively participates in labor unions and peasant organizations, seeking to build a broad-based movement against capitalism and imperialism. It advocates for land reform, nationalization of key industries, and the establishment of a socialist state.

The PCTC is a relatively small party compared to other political forces in Colombia. It has not achieved significant electoral success, but maintains a presence within certain sectors of the working class and intellectual circles. The party publishes its own newspaper and actively engages in ideological and political education.

The PCTC has historically been critical of other leftist and Marxist groups in Colombia that it views as revisionist or reformist, particularly those that have engaged in armed struggle. While it supports popular resistance against state oppression, it primarily advocates for political and social struggle through legal means, although the limitations for effective political action in Colombia are acknowledged. The party remains committed to its long-term goal of establishing a communist society in Colombia.
