College Square (Dublin)
College Square is an area in Dublin city centre, Ireland. It is situated immediately to the west of Trinity College Dublin and is primarily defined by its road configuration and surrounding buildings. The square is not strictly a formally defined open space with a central feature like a park or monument, but rather a junction and collection of buildings bordering the western side of Trinity College.
Historically, the name "College Square" may have referred more broadly to the area immediately surrounding Trinity College. Today, however, the term is often used to describe the location where Pearse Street transitions into College Street, and then into Grafton Street, forming a key arterial route through the city. This area is characterised by significant pedestrian and vehicular traffic.
Notable buildings located in or around College Square include office buildings, commercial establishments, and academic-related institutions. The area also provides access to various amenities and public transportation options, contributing to its role as a busy and central location within Dublin. Due to ongoing urban development and changes in city planning, the exact boundaries and definition of "College Square" can sometimes be debated.
