Walter (abbot of Evesham)

Walter was an English Benedictine monk who served as Abbot of Evesham Abbey from 1104 to 1129. His abbacy is primarily remembered for his efforts in rebuilding and expanding the abbey church following a devastating fire in 1022, a project inherited from his predecessor, Abbot Reginald. Walter's administration saw significant progress in the reconstruction, though the work was not fully completed during his tenure.

He also oversaw the management of the abbey's extensive land holdings and revenues, contributing to the overall prosperity of Evesham during his time. Walter's relationship with the local community and the wider ecclesiastical authorities is less well documented compared to his building activities. Upon his death in 1129, he was succeeded as Abbot by William de Andeville.
