Coalinga Municipal Airport (Old)
The original Coalinga Municipal Airport, located near Coalinga, California, served the city and surrounding area for several decades. Its primary function was as a general aviation airport, accommodating smaller, privately-owned aircraft and providing services such as flight training and aircraft maintenance. Over time, increased operational demands and limitations at the original site necessitated the construction of a new and larger airport facility. The "Old" designation differentiates it from the current Coalinga Municipal Airport, which is located at a different site. After the new airport opened, the old airport was decommissioned for aviation purposes, and the land repurposed. The exact status and use of the former airport property currently varies and may involve agricultural, industrial, or other non-aviation related activities. Available information concerning this older facility is limited, with much of it being superseded by information related to the current airport.
