Stokksnes

Stokksnes is a headland located on the southeastern coast of Iceland, near the town of Höfn. It is known for its dramatic scenery, characterized by black sand beaches, towering mountains (especially Vestrahorn), and shifting sand dunes. The area is a popular destination for photographers and tourists due to its striking landscapes, which are particularly captivating during sunrise and sunset.

The Vestrahorn mountain, rising prominently from the coast, is a key feature of Stokksnes. Its multiple jagged peaks create a distinct and recognizable silhouette. Depending on the weather conditions, the mountain's reflection can often be seen in the shallow waters of the beach, adding to the area's visual appeal.

Historically, Stokksnes has been used for farming and grazing. A Viking village replica exists on private land nearby, built for a film set and now open to visitors for a fee. Access to the Stokksnes area is typically controlled, requiring a small entry fee to traverse the private land leading to the beach and headland.
