Cloud One (album)
Cloud One is the self-titled debut album by Cloud One, a disco project masterminded by Patrick Adams. Released in 1976, the album is considered a seminal work in the development of disco music, and particularly in the subgenres of proto-house and disco-funk.
The album is notable for its extensive use of synthesizers and drum machines, which were relatively innovative for the time and heavily influenced the sound of subsequent electronic dance music. Several tracks from the album became influential club hits, including "Atmosphere Strut" and "Disco Juice". The album's sound, characterized by its heavy basslines, intricate synthesizer arrangements, and percussive elements, helped to establish the distinctive style of New York City disco.
"Cloud One" is generally regarded as a pioneering example of independent disco production and is credited with contributing to the evolution of dance music genres beyond traditional disco structures. The album has been reissued several times and continues to be appreciated for its historical significance and enduring dance floor appeal.
