Clon (duo)
Clon, sometimes referred to as Clon (duo) to distinguish it from other potential meanings, is a term used to describe a musical duo from South Korea. This duo is composed of Kang Won-rae and Koo Jun-yup. They are considered pioneers of Korean techno and dance music.
Clon rose to prominence in the 1990s with their upbeat, energetic music and synchronized dance routines. Their music often incorporated elements of techno, hip-hop, and traditional Korean influences. They are known for popularizing dance music within the Korean pop music scene.
The duo's career was significantly impacted by a motorcycle accident involving Kang Won-rae in 2000, which left him paralyzed from the waist down. Despite this setback, Clon has remained active in the music industry, releasing albums and performing together. Koo Jun-yup has also pursued solo projects, including DJing and other musical endeavors. The duo continues to be recognized as influential figures in K-pop history.
