Christian Jost (born 1963 in Berlin, Germany) is a German composer primarily known for his operas, orchestral works, and chamber music. His compositional style is often characterized by its dramatic intensity, complex rhythmic structures, and exploration of contemporary social and political themes.

Jost studied composition with Hans-Ulrich Engelmann in Vienna and privately with Witold Lutosławski. He has held various positions, including composer-in-residence at the Staatsoper Stuttgart and the Deutsche Oper Berlin.

His operas have been performed at major opera houses worldwide, including the Royal Opera House Covent Garden, the Vienna State Opera, and the Oper Frankfurt. Notable operas include Hamlet, Schillers sämtliche Werke: leicht gekürzt, Die Arabische Nacht, and Egmont.
