Chris Bell (politician)

Chris Bell (born November 23, 1959) is an American politician and lawyer from Houston, Texas. He is a member of the Democratic Party.

Bell served as a U.S. Representative for Texas's 25th congressional district from 2003 to 2005. During his term in Congress, he served on the House Armed Services Committee and the House Science Committee.

Prior to his time in Congress, Bell served on the Houston City Council from 1997 to 2001. He was elected city controller in 2001, serving until he was elected to Congress in 2002.

Bell was a candidate for Mayor of Houston in 2015 and 2019. He did not win either election.

Bell received a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin and a law degree from South Texas College of Law. He has practiced law in Houston. He is married and has children.
