Cherry Hill Park (album)
Cherry Hill Park is the second studio album by the American funk band Parliament, released in July 1969 on Invictus Records. The album features a blend of psychedelic soul and funk influences, a distinct departure from the band's earlier, more R&B-focused sound as The Parliaments.
The album's title refers to Cherry Hill Park, a real amusement park located near Detroit, Michigan, which the band frequented. The park's whimsical atmosphere is reflected in some of the album's themes and lyrical content.
While Cherry Hill Park did not achieve major commercial success upon its initial release, it is now considered an important early work in the development of the Parliament-Funkadelic sound and is recognized for its experimental approach to funk music. Key tracks include "Little Ole Country Boy", "The Goose", and the title track, "Cherry Hill Park".
