Charlie King (Australian footballer)

Charlie King (born 22 November 1956) is a former Australian rules footballer who played for the Geelong Football Club in the Victorian Football League (VFL).

King, originally from Darwin, Northern Territory, was recruited to Geelong and played as a rover. He made his VFL debut in 1978 and played 50 games for the club over four seasons, kicking 11 goals. He was known for his pace and tackling ability. Following his VFL career, King returned to the Northern Territory and continued playing football.

After retiring from playing, King became a prominent figure in indigenous affairs in the Northern Territory. He is a strong advocate for addressing social issues affecting indigenous communities, particularly alcohol abuse and domestic violence. He has worked extensively in the areas of health promotion and community development. He served as the CEO of the No More Campaign, an initiative focused on ending violence against women and children in the Northern Territory. He has received numerous awards for his community work.
