BusLogic

BusLogic was a manufacturer of host bus adapters (HBAs), primarily for SCSI (Small Computer System Interface) technology. Founded in the late 1980s, the company gained prominence in the 1990s as a supplier of high-performance SCSI controllers for various computer platforms, including PCs and servers.

BusLogic adapters were known for their compatibility, performance, and advanced features, which often included support for multiple SCSI channels, wide SCSI variants, and enhanced buffering. Their products were widely used in applications requiring high data transfer rates, such as database servers, multimedia editing systems, and high-end workstations.

The company's product line included a range of ISA, EISA, and PCI-based SCSI controllers. Their controllers offered advanced features like disconnect/reconnect support, tagged command queuing, and automatic termination. These features improved overall system performance by optimizing the utilization of the SCSI bus and allowing multiple devices to operate concurrently.

BusLogic was eventually acquired by Mylex Corporation in 1996. The Mylex acquisition incorporated BusLogic's SCSI expertise into Mylex's broader range of storage solutions. After the acquisition, the BusLogic brand was phased out, and its products were eventually integrated into Mylex's product portfolio. While no longer an independent entity, BusLogic's legacy remains in the history of storage and server technology as a key player in the advancement of SCSI technology and high-performance I/O solutions.
