Bulwell

Bulwell is a suburb and market town in Nottingham, England, located approximately 4 miles (6.4 km) northwest of Nottingham city centre. Historically part of Nottinghamshire, Bulwell is situated on the River Leen and the Nottingham Canal.

History:

Bulwell's history can be traced back to the Domesday Book of 1086, where it is recorded as "Bulewelle". The name is believed to derive from the Old English "bulla wielle," meaning "bull's well" or "bubbling spring." Throughout the Middle Ages, Bulwell remained a small agricultural village. Its growth accelerated significantly during the Industrial Revolution due to its proximity to coal deposits and the development of canals and railways. Coal mining, quarrying, and the textile industry became important sources of employment.
