Brunswick River (Georgia)
The Brunswick River is a short, tidal river located in Glynn County, Georgia. Formed by the confluence of the Turtle River and the Little River, it flows generally eastward and empties into the Atlantic Ocean near the city of Brunswick, Georgia. The river is navigable and serves as a major shipping channel for the Port of Brunswick, one of the busiest ports in the United States for automobile imports and exports. The Sidney Lanier Bridge, a cable-stayed bridge carrying U.S. Route 17, spans the Brunswick River just before it enters the ocean. The river's ecosystem supports a variety of wildlife, including fish, shellfish, and birds. The Brunswick River historically played a significant role in the development of Brunswick as a port city, facilitating trade and transportation.
