Laquearia

Laquearia (singular: laquearium) are recessed panels, often square or polygonal, that ornament a ceiling, dome, or vault. This decorative technique, also known as a coffered ceiling, serves both an aesthetic and structural purpose.

Laquearia are typically used to lighten the weight of the ceiling and provide a visually appealing surface.
