Brome (Samtgemeinde)
The Samtgemeinde Brome is a collective municipality (German: Samtgemeinde) in the district of Gifhorn, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated approximately 30 km northeast of Gifhorn. Its seat is in the village of Brome.
The Samtgemeinde consists of the following municipalities:
- Brome
- Bergfeld
- Ehra-Lessien
- Parsau
- Rühen
- Tiddische
- Tülau
A Samtgemeinde is a type of administrative division in Lower Saxony (and other German states) where several smaller municipalities pool their resources and administrative functions while retaining a degree of autonomy. The elected council of the Samtgemeinde handles tasks such as regional planning, waste management, fire protection, and other services that are more efficiently provided on a larger scale. Individual member municipalities retain responsibility for local matters like primary schools and local construction projects.
