Brian O'Regan (chemist)
Brian O'Regan is an Irish chemist known for his significant contributions to the field of dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), often referred to as Grätzel cells due to the pioneering work of Michael Grätzel. He is recognized particularly for his research and development in areas such as the optimization of the photoanode structure and the design of novel electrolytes to enhance the efficiency and stability of these solar cells.
O'Regan's work has focused on improving the performance of DSSCs as a cost-effective alternative to traditional silicon-based solar cells. His research has covered aspects including the modification of TiO2 nanoparticles used in the photoanode to improve light harvesting and electron transport, as well as the development of new redox mediators for the electrolyte solution that are stable and efficient.
His publications are widely cited in the scientific literature related to photovoltaics and materials science.
