Bravo (Canadian TV channel)
Bravo is a Canadian English-language specialty channel owned by Bell Media. It focuses primarily on drama, performance arts, and film.
History:
Bravo was launched on January 1, 1995, by CHUM Limited. Its initial programming focused heavily on classical music, opera, ballet, theatre, and independent film. Over time, its focus shifted towards more mainstream dramatic series, often acquired from the United States and the United Kingdom.
In 2007, CTVglobemedia acquired CHUM Limited, bringing Bravo under its ownership. CTVglobemedia was subsequently acquired by Bell Canada in 2011, making Bravo a part of Bell Media.
Programming:
Bravo airs a mix of original programming, acquired series, and films. Notable programming has included popular drama series such as Law & Order, Suits, and Killing Eve. The channel also airs content focused on performing arts, though this has decreased significantly from its initial programming mandate.
Availability:
Bravo is available on cable, satellite, and IPTV television providers across Canada.
