Bramalea—Gore—Malton (provincial electoral district)

Bramalea—Gore—Malton was a provincial electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that existed from 1999 to 2018. It was located in the northwestern part of the city of Brampton, covering the areas of Bramalea, Gore, and Malton (which is technically part of Mississauga but close to the border with Brampton).

The riding was created in 1999 from parts of Bramalea—Brampton North, Brampton South, and Mississauga North. It was abolished in 2018 into Brampton East, Brampton North, and Brampton West electoral districts as part of a broader redistribution of provincial ridings.

The electoral district was known for its diverse population, including significant South Asian and other immigrant communities. Its political representation historically leaned towards the Liberal party. During its existence, the riding was represented in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario by:

  • Raminder Gill (1999-2003), Progressive Conservative
  • Linda Jeffrey (2003-2014), Liberal
  • Jagmeet Singh (2011-2017), New Democratic Party (NDP) - who resigned in 2017 to run for leadership of the federal NDP.
  • Gurpreet Dhillon (2017-2018), Liberal (following a by-election after Jagmeet Singh's resignation).

The boundaries of Bramalea—Gore—Malton generally followed major roads and geographical features. They typically encompassed the area north of Steeles Avenue, south of Mayfield Road (or a line approximating it), west of Highway 427, and east of Chinguacousy Road. However, detailed boundary descriptions were adjusted slightly over the years based on population changes and redistricting exercises.
