Boubín
Boubín is a mountain and nature reserve located in the Šumava Mountains of the Czech Republic. It is known for the Boubín Primeval Forest (Boubínský prales), one of the best-preserved natural forests in Central Europe.
The Boubín mountain reaches a height of 1,362 meters (4,469 feet) above sea level. The primeval forest covers an area of 666.3 hectares (approximately 1,646 acres) and has been protected since 1858, making it one of the oldest nature reserves in the Czech Republic.
The Boubín Primeval Forest is characterized by old-growth trees, including beech, fir, and spruce, some of which are hundreds of years old. The forest floor is rich in decaying wood, providing a habitat for a wide variety of fungi, insects, and other organisms.
Visitors to Boubín can explore the area via marked hiking trails, including an educational trail that provides information about the ecology and history of the forest. A wooden observation tower on the summit offers panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. The area is a popular destination for nature enthusiasts, hikers, and researchers.
