Borsoi

The Borzoi, also known as the Russian Wolfhound, is a breed of domestic dog historically used for hunting wolves. They are members of the sighthound family, meaning they primarily hunt by sight and speed. Borzoi originated in 17th-century Russia through crosses of Arabian Sighthounds and thick-coated Russian breeds. They were popular with the Russian aristocracy for centuries, often given as lavish gifts amongst royalty.

Borzoi are characterized by their elegant and aristocratic appearance, tall stature (typically 26-33 inches at the shoulder), silky, flowing coat, and long, narrow head. Common coat colors include white, black, cream, and various combinations thereof. They are known for their gentle and affectionate temperament towards their families, but can be independent and reserved with strangers. Borzoi require considerable exercise due to their hunting heritage, though they are often relatively inactive indoors. Grooming needs are moderate, requiring regular brushing to prevent matting. They are generally healthy dogs, but prone to certain health conditions such as bloat, progressive retinal atrophy, and cardiac issues.
