Bordano
Bordano is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Udine in the Italian region Friuli-Venezia Giulia, located about 100 kilometres (62 mi) northwest of Trieste and about 35 kilometres (22 mi) northwest of Udine.
Bordano is known for its butterfly house, Casa delle Farfalle, which houses hundreds of butterfly species from around the world. This attraction has contributed to the comune being sometimes referred to as the "village of butterflies."
The economy of Bordano is primarily based on agriculture, small businesses, and tourism related to the butterfly house and surrounding natural environment. The area also offers opportunities for hiking and other outdoor activities.
Historically, the area has been inhabited since Roman times, with evidence of ancient settlements found in the region. Bordano, like other parts of Friuli, has experienced periods of Austrian and Venetian influence before becoming part of Italy.
