Bob Edgar

Bob Edgar (May 29, 1943 – April 13, 2013) was an American politician and academic. He served as a Democratic member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania's 7th congressional district from 1975 to 1987. Following his congressional career, he became president of Claremont School of Theology from 1990 to 1999. From 2000 to 2010, he served as the general secretary of the National Council of Churches. He was known for his progressive political views and his advocacy for environmental protection, peace, and social justice.
