Blanton's

Blanton's is a brand of bourbon whiskey produced by Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky. It is widely considered the first commercially available single barrel bourbon. Elmer T. Lee, a master distiller at Buffalo Trace (then known as the George T. Stagg Distillery), introduced Blanton's in 1984.

The whiskey is named after Colonel Albert Blanton, a former president of the distillery who dedicated over 55 years to its operation. Blanton's is known for its distinctive bottle, a grenade-shaped decanter with a horse and jockey stopper. The stopper comes in a series of eight different designs, each depicting a different stage of a horse race, culminating in the final stopper which features the horse and jockey winning the race with the letter "S". When arranged in order, the stoppers spell out "BLANTON'S".

Blanton's is typically aged in Warehouse H, which is the only metal clad warehouse at Buffalo Trace Distillery. Its construction allows for a greater temperature fluctuation throughout the year, which some believe contributes to the whiskey's unique flavor profile. The bourbon is typically bottled at 93 proof (46.5% ABV). Various expressions exist, including Blanton's Original Single Barrel, Blanton's Gold Edition, and Blanton's Straight From The Barrel. Each expression offers a different proof and flavor profile.
