Belá (river)
The Belá is a river in northern Slovakia, a major tributary of the Váh river. It is formed by the confluence of the Tichý potok and Kôprovský potok streams in the High Tatras mountains. The Belá flows generally in a westward direction through the Liptov region, eventually joining the Váh near the town of Liptovský Hrádok.
The river is known for its clear, cold water and its suitability for whitewater kayaking and rafting. The Belá's rapids are challenging and attract experienced paddlers, particularly during the spring snowmelt when water levels are high. The surrounding landscape features forests and mountains, making the Belá a popular destination for nature enthusiasts.
The Belá river is also important for its role in the local ecosystem, providing habitat for various fish species and other aquatic life. Conservation efforts are in place to protect the river's water quality and biodiversity.
