Banana Split (film)

The Banana Splits Movie is a 2019 American horror comedy film directed by Danishka Esterhazy and written by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas. It is based on the 1968-1970 Hanna-Barbera children's television show The Banana Splits Adventure Hour. However, the film presents a dark, reimagining of the show, transforming the Banana Splits characters into murderous animatronics.

The film centers around Harley, a young boy obsessed with the Banana Splits. For his birthday, his family takes him to a live taping of the show. However, an executive decision to cancel the show activates a deadly program within the Banana Splits' animatronics, causing them to go on a violent rampage, targeting the show's staff and audience.

The film stars Dani Kind, Steve Lund, Sara Canning, Romeo Carere, and Finlay Wojtak-Hissong. It was produced by Blue Ribbon Content and distributed by Warner Bros. Home Entertainment. The Banana Splits Movie was released on digital platforms and Blu-ray/DVD in August 2019. While featuring the iconic characters, it bears little resemblance in tone or content to the original children's program, aimed instead at an adult audience with its horror elements and graphic violence.
