Bala Nagamma (1959 film)
Bala Nagamma is a 1959 Indian Telugu-language fantasy film directed by C. Pullayya. The film is based on the popular Telugu folk tale of the same name, concerning the princess Bala Nagamma and her abduction and imprisonment by a sorcerer named Mayala Fakir.
The film stars Anjali Devi as Bala Nagamma, S. V. Ranga Rao as Mayala Fakir, and Kanta Rao as the prince who ultimately rescues her. It is a remake of Pullayya's own 1942 film of the same name.
The 1959 Bala Nagamma is known for its special effects (for its time), elaborate sets, and memorable performances. It was a commercial success and became a landmark film in Telugu cinema, contributing to the popularity of mythological and fantasy genres. The film's music, composed by T. V.
